1.
Relative 01:11
With want of labor, blood, or tradition, What's left of our kinship? Whether learned or lived, I have no use for birthright. Whether learned or lived, I am no guardian. Move on. I'm tired of this conversation. Find your pity somewhere else. This may be the best of who we are.
2.
Pass along purchase As your sincere belief. Irony cloaks the hate That replaces your justice. Poisoner Lungs pave the roads We walk twice removed [from our enemies] You will pass on your hubris As glowing targets.
3.
Hypocrisy should mean something Followers who look the other way The positions of convenience... The weak who love bullies... I'm not perfect [I'd be] Bothered if I'd been had. I try to hear others Instead of my head in the sand. We're in this together. There is no alternative.
4.
Be more 01:57
As if you can do so much better Already having had much more than you've earned Blessed with Manna from the heavens Thrown out with the trash They'll wonder what they did Even if they don't know it I don't think that's something that you ever do You can't comprehend it Not the kind of challenge that you wanted? Or the glory you deserve? Not the manhood that you pictured? Compromised and diluted. You favor all your most basic urges. Imperatives never ignored. Self-justified stimulus response. Missing chances to be more.
5.
Harm. Is that enough? Yesterday is not far, But long buried beneath sanctimony. The excuses of the passionate, Louder still the contradictions of their beliefs. Lonely, are the brave Who speak out and risk their lives. Are you listening? It wasn't cynical to oppose The crimes of privileged hands. This time is different. Worse. With more at stake. Another chance to build On a foundation of malice. How strong the threads That bind our better angels? The caring selfless few That drive us forward? Who will you be there for? The might that never made you right? It was never about you It just depends on you.

about

"Harm" is Early War's sixth release, extending the harsher sound of the previous album "Destroyer". Every release is labor and a hard-fought learning experience. Each grows in certain ways, whether the style is harsher or gentler, the writing more collaborative, or by going far outside our comfort zones.

Some standout contributions to note are Albert Niemoller's bass and vocals, especially on "Be more". Also of note are Nanci "Bomps" Bompey's vocals on "Change your mind." Richard Johnson, collaborator from the very beginning, delivers on the same track.

You can hear more of Albert via his band Dunbar's Number. Bomps also appears on The Neanderverb's self-titled release from 2023. Richard is everywhere, with Drugs of Faith being top of mind to hear his signature vocals and guitar.
